HOT NEWS ! EMU CHAPTER CONNECTS TO NSBE CENTRAL
COMMAND!
2008-2009
REGION IV EXECUTIVE BOARD
Administrative Zone

On Wednesday August 13th of 2008 the EMU chapter
of NSBE got connected to the NSBE region IV administration!
NSBE chapter president Otis Watson (EMU) meet with the
region IV administrative chair Stacy Russell ( Ohio State University) and
discussed the critical fuel of any organization.
MONEY! Russell
and Watson discussed several methods to acquiring MAJOR sponsorship and
additional chapter financing! Watson has his sites on major sponsorship for
this years mission, as it will be "Off The Chain" as he describes!
Russell is scheduled to address the EMU chapter
sometime in mid September or late October.

The Chapter 2 Chapter
mission has begun!
EMU AND PENN STATE
UNIVERSITY EQUALS A GREAT CONNECTION!
EMU chapter president Otis
Watson meets with Penn State University President Anthony Davis on the
campus of Eastern Michigan University to start the integration planning
for the C2C mission! After a great lunch and much strategy planning, the
Chapter 2 Chapter
mission is well on its way! The goal will be to make the C2C mission super
expansive by tying together hub chapters at local universities across the
east cost. This mission will be stabilized by getting increased student
enrollment , mentoring, and directing students into science and
engineering. We will do this by creating a net wide planning agenda that
will help us mentor young people using career Project Lifecycle Management methods being developed
by students for students! Davis an Aerospace Engineer and Project Manager at
GM-General Motors is
on a career building mission with Watson, a Scientist/Engineer currently finishing his
Masters in
Engineering Management, to create an atmosphere of engineering success and
brotherhood in the name of the central NSBE directive!
They are on a mission to make
science and engineering cool and fun in the
local community!
Anthony Davis , Otis Watson ,
Paul Peeler, and Keith Paige will spend the remaining summer months tying the
NSBE DETROIT ALUMNI and the NSBE PENN STATE UNIVERSITY mission
into the EMU chapter development mission!

Davis's chapter at PENN!

NSBE NATIONAL NEWS:
NSBE's Dr. Robert Howard in
Smithsonian Magazine!
Robert L. Howard Jr., Ph.D., lab manager for NASA
's Habitability Design Center and member of NSBE's Alumni Executive
Board, tells about his work designing lunar dwellings, in the July
2008 issue of Smithsonian magazine. At age 36, Dr. Howard is a major
part of the nation's plans to send humans back to the Moon by 2020,
and then on to Mars.
Howard says this is a heady time to be working at NASA. In 2004,
President Bush set a goal of sending humans back to the moon by 2020
and eventually on to Mars. The lunar outpost would be a training
ground and launchpad for trips to the red planet.
