On Feb. 7, 2009, the Center for Multicultural Affairs will be hosting BLACKOUT.  This is a one day community plunge event designed to provide black students and black student orgs to collectively give back to the community.

The CMA is striving to have all the black student orgs participate, as they are seen as leaders on this campus.

BLACKOUT 2009
 
What- Community Plunge One Day event; sponsored by Center for Multicultural Affairs
 
When- February 7, 2009; 9:30am to 1:30pm. (Rally from 9:30am-10:00am, providing service from 10:15am- 12:00pm, Lunch and reflection until 1:30pm)
 
Where- Various service agencies in Washtenaw County (i.e. Hope Clinic, Ozone House, Habitat for Humanity, Peace Neighborhood Center etc.)


What- This event will serve as an opportunity for the black students and student orgs on campus to collectively give back to the community. While we all give back in our on way, the purpose of this event is to “be a community to change the community” during Black History Month 2009
 
*Sign up for student orgs will be for groups of 5 or more; we encourage you to bring as many students from your org. as possible we really want this to be a successful event*
 
*Sign up for individual students will be at lobby tables on the first floor of the student center Wednesdays from 11-2; LBC credit will be provided*

Hope Clinic
EMU Children’s Institute
ALPHA Interfaith House
OZONE house
Salvation Army
Habitat for Humanity

What you will be doing: Each agency is different and each provided service will be different. Some people may be cleaning, playing with children or feeding families, either way, you will be making a change in someone’s life.
